Redress

[January 5, 2014, Hong Kong] - Redress is an environmental non-governmental organization led by Asia. Through educational designers and consumers to accelerate the transformation of circular fashion, it was mainly sponsored by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Creative Hong Kong (CreateHK) to hold the 2024 "Redress Design Competition". Redress is very happy to join hands with Tommy Hilfiger, a fashion brand with distinctive logo, to hold the 2024 Redress Design Competition, the world's leading sustainable fashion design competition. The competition calls on new designers from around the world to submit their applications for recycling and sustainable fashion collections before the deadline of March 15, 2024.
Dr. Christina Dean, founder of Redress, said: "Fashion is one of the most polluted industries in the world. If not alleviated, the pollution and waste will further worsen. We urgently need to accelerate the circulation of fashion, which is the best way to let fashion flourish without sacrificing the earth. With Hong Kong as the headquarters, and Asia as the leader, we hope to cooperate with bold fashion brand enterprises and talented designers Talent cooperation, let's work together to correct (Redress) - that is, "remedy" or "set right" - fashion, and create the future of the fashion industry now. "
Mr. Zeng Zhaoxue, Director of Creative Hong Kong, said, "The Redress Design Competition plays an important role in bringing together design elites from all over the world to exchange ideas. The Hong Kong SAR Government is willing to support this competition and hopes to consolidate Hong Kong's position as an international cultural exchange center between East and West."
Tommy Hilfiger of PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH] is very happy to establish a new partnership to cultivate new talents. The first prize winner of the 2024 "Redress Design Competition" will join Tommy Hilfiger's design team to participate in a sustainable design retail project, gain valuable industry experience, and deepen the understanding of sustainable fashion.
The creation of "waste free, inclusive" fashion is part of Tommy Hilfiger's core, which reflects the brand's decades of business and its commitment to making fashion more sustainable and inclusive. Tommy Hilfiger is exploring new recycling materials and manufacturing methods, such as using textile waste to produce high-quality products, while paying close attention to the earth's boundaries. The brand is also committed to making fashion industry more accessible to vulnerable groups through different projects and partnerships, and creating inclusive products suitable for every Tommy Hilfiger fan.
Education required for the circulatory fashion system
The current unsustainable "take make discard" linear system in the fashion industry is wasteful and polluting. About 100 billion pieces of clothing are produced every year, which has doubled since 2006. Most of them are sent to landfills or burned within one year after production. It is estimated that the fashion industry produces 92 million tons of textile waste every year, which is equivalent to the textile that buries or burns a garbage truck every second. It is estimated that 80% of the environmental impact of the product has been determined in the design stage, and the decisions on materials, decoration, repairability, life and recyclability have been made in the design stage.
Fashion designers who want to improve their professional knowledge of circular fashion design are encouraged to sign up for the free online Redress circular fashion design course, which will be taught by leading industry experts, so that you can gain advantages in the rapidly changing fashion industry. The latest module "Recyclability Design Concept" was launched on January 23, including Jessica Wei, Senior Director of Sustainability, Tommy Hilfiger Asia Pacific, providing a rare opportunity to explore the recycling business model and learn from professionals who support recyclability. Before March 15, it will be open to applicants of "Redress Design Competition".
Redress has more than 170 university partners around the world and is committed to providing the next generation of fashion professionals with the necessary knowledge and tools to support the successful transformation of the fashion industry into a recycling system. Redress Knowledge Port is a free online learning platform, which has benefited more than 120000 students, designers and industry professionals.
The 2024 "Redress Design Competition" has now been applied for globally, and the deadline is March 15. New designers can go to www.reducesignaward.com for detailed application guidelines and information.
