Industrial Cluster: Jinghe County Comprehensively Carries Out Cotton Yield Measurement

At present, 897000 mu of cotton in Jinghe County has entered the mature period. In order to accurately grasp the cotton planting and yield situation, and analyze the overall trend of cotton planting in Jinghe County, the Agricultural Technology Promotion Center of Jinghe County has organized technicians to go deep into the field for several days to comprehensively carry out cotton production measurement.

On August 25, in the cotton field of Li Gang, a big farmer in eight farms, agricultural technicians selected sites according to the specifications, and measured the number of cotton plants and bolls by checking, measuring, counting and other methods to scientifically calculate the cotton yield. Zhang Huaijun, the head of the extension station of Jinghe County Agricultural Technology Extension Center, said, "We divided the staff into three groups and measured the yield of crops in eight farms by means of field impromptu investigation. According to the calculation, the yield of this land is expected to be about 500 kg per mu."

Li Gang has been planting cotton for 8 years. This year, he has planted 2000 mu of cotton. Through constant attempts and exploration, he has gradually mastered the essentials of cotton planting. He was very happy when he learned the yield measurement results. "I planted 2000 mu of land this year, and technicians basically come to see me once a week to provide technical guidance. After the yield measurement, the yield is quite considerable, and I believe there will be a good harvest this year," said Li Gang.

It is understood that this year's cotton yield measurement in Jinghe County started on August 24 and is expected to be completed in early September. Through preliminary calculation, the cotton output of Jinghe County this year is basically the same as that of last year. Zhang Huaijun said, "Next, we will guide growers to cut off water in time and remove weeds in the field according to the weather conditions, and plan to spray the first defoliant before and after September 10 to prepare for the harvesting of machine picked cotton."
