The Eighteenth International Footwear, leather and Industrial Equipment Exhibition (Guangzhou international shoes exhibition), CO sponsored by China foreign trade center and Hsin Hui International Exhibition Company, is honored as "Asia's first international shoe exhibition". It will be held on 28~31 March at the Pazhou Exhibition Hall of China Import and Export Fair.

More than 900 footwear and related enterprises from 35 countries and regions in five continents have joined the exhibition. The exhibition will reach 60 thousand square meters, an increase of nearly 20% compared with the previous one.

China is the largest footwear consumer country, according to the head of the Guangdong Footwear Manufacturers Association. At present, the per capita consumption of shoes in Asia is about 1.2 pairs, with a total consumption of 4 billion 215 million 600 thousand pairs, and Asia accounts for 40% of the world's consumption of footwear.

In particular, China consumes nearly 2 billion 300 million pairs of shoes every year, which exceeds 2 billion 200 million pairs in the United States, and has just replaced the United States as the world's largest consumer of shoe products.

In addition, the consumption and consumption power of Asian developing countries such as India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand also maintained strong growth.

According to the latest estimate of UBS, by 2012, the consumption of per capita shoes will reach 2 pairs in Asia, and the total consumption will be 7 billion 26 million pairs. In the next 10 years, the consumption of per capita shoes will exceed 3 pairs in Asia, and the total consumption of shoes will reach about 10000000000 pairs.

Industry experts believe that Europe and America have always been the main battleground of world shoe consumption, but the focus of consumption is shifting to Asia.

The footwear industry in Guangdong is still healthy. News of the collapse of the footwear industry in the Pearl River Delta has frequently been heard recently.

In this regard, Qiu Xiaoguang, President of Guangdong Footwear Manufacturers Association, told reporters that although international trade protection, export tax rebate reduction, RMB appreciation against the US dollar, rising raw material prices and tight energy supply in 2007 had caused some difficulties and pressures on China and Guangdong footwear industry. However, after nearly 20 years of steady development and long-term accumulation of various resources, various advantages still exist, and the footwear industry in China and Guangdong is still in a stage of sustained and healthy development.

According to the State General Administration of customs, the total value of China's exports of footwear from 1 to April in 2008 was $8 billion 480 million, an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year.

At present, the footwear industry in Guangdong is close to half the country's output.

It is reported that last year, China produced more than 10 billion pairs of footwear products, of which 8 billion 500 million were exported to the international market, representing an increase of about 9% over the same period last year, with an export value of US $25 billion 300 million, an increase of about 16% over the same period last year. Last year, Guangdong's footwear exports were about 9 billion 580 million US dollars, an increase of about 13% over 2006.
